At the moment my main roles within Tucana is admin work alongside studying to achieve the RFQ Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning over a 20-month course. This will provide me with a basic degree in financial planning which I can then progress further from.
On a typical day, I will be dealing with client letters, emails and phone calls, sending out reminders, producing progress reports and preparing meeting documents to send out to clients before they meet their advisor.
By the way, if you have noticed a similarity in our surnames, it’s because Jonathan (Joe) is my father. I’m based in our Wellington office in Shropshire, and he’s based in Shrewsbury, so working together isn’t a problem. Although, sometimes, home and work life overlaps.
I am very new to the industry having joined Tucana in January 2019. Before that, I worked in a fine dining country pub, I started as a waitress, and within a year had worked my way up to be their Assistant Manager. Before this, I went to University and I hold a BA Honours degree in architecture.
Outside work, I do a lot of dog-walking with mine and my parent’s dogs. In fact, Opie, my Weimaraner, comes into the office with me every day. I also love cooking and am a huge gin fan, I even make my own rhubarb gin using what grows in the garden. In my previous job, the wine was a large part of the dining experience, therefore I took a couple of wine tasting courses. On a recent holiday to Florence, I did a wine tasting experience in the Tuscan hills which I would highly recommend to anyone going.
